The Council of Commissioners of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board believes that a standing committee structure contributes to the exercise of its functions and for the examination of specific matters. Furthermore, it is part of an efficient decision making process. Such a structure allows for strategic planning in the areas of policy development and project management. It establishes a procedure for recommendations to the Council of Commissioners or the Executive Committee for a decision or a mandate with regards to a specific course of action.
The statutory committees of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board are established according to the Education Act (R.S.Q., Chapter I-13.3).
All Commissioners and Parent Commissioners are eligible to sit on all committees of the school board. The Chair of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board is an ex-officio member of all committees. The term of office for a committee is one year. The Council of Commissioners form these committees annually during the month of June.
