Revision Period for the English Language School Board Electoral List


To be eligible to vote, you must be on the electoral list. Any elector who, as of September 1st preceding polling day, does not habe a child admitted to the educational services provided by the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board may choose to exercise their right to vote in either the French of English language school board. The notice of choice must be made in writing to the returning officer of the appropriate school board between October 3 and October 30, 2003.

IMPORTANT: If you do not have children enrolled in September in the French-language or English-language school board serving your domicile, you will normally be registered on the list of electors of the French-language school board of your territory. However, if you wish to vote in the English-language school board, you must make an application to the returning officer. Applications received after October 30th cannot apply to the November 16, 2003 school elections.

The electoral list for the upcoming election of school commissioners to be held on November 16, 2003, will be deposited at the Administrative Centre of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board and its schools and centres. Inquiries about the electoral list may be made at the Administrative Centre during office hours from Monday to Friday, October 6 – 30, 2003 or at the schools and centres during school hours from October 14 – 30, 2003. The electoral list will be revised in all electoral divisions of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board even in the case of an acclamation in an electoral division.

Addidtion or changes to the electoral list .will take place at predetermined times and dates prior to election day. Public notices will also be published in local and regional newspapers. The revision committee of the electoral list for the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board will receive requests from October 23 to 30 inclusively in the following locations:

As well, electors may request the addition, modification of deletion of their names on the English School Boards' Electoral list by presenting themselves to a school or centre secretary during regular school hours. This request will be submitted to the electoral list revision committee.

NOTE: Two pieces of identification must be presented upon making an application, at least one must contain a photo such as a Drivers Licence, a Medicare card, a Canadian Passport, etc. and accompanied by one other such as a utility bill, etc.
