Language Arts

Kindergarten and grade 4/5 read and share their books. By now, both groups (K & 4/5) are familiar with the original lyrics of Down by the Bay.

  Language Arts

students each write one new lyric to Down By The Bay

students each draw 2 pictures to accompany the lyrics, one the correct picture and another similar but incorrect picture.

Computer Vocabulary and Computing Skills

Kindergarten students will familiarize themselves with computer vocabulary during class time and with their grade 4/5 partners &emdash; using pictograms and workbook. click

Computing Skills

Grade 4/5 students teach kindergarten students how to log-on to the computer (type in user name and password)

Grade 4/5 students teach kindergarten how to access Internet using a pre-identified step by step process (this is a school-specific set of instructions and will only function at Our Lady of Peace School):

Computing Skills

Grade 4/5 teach their partners how to use the program Kid Pix

Grade 4/5 teach their partners to use at least 3 commands adding a picture, adding print, adding a background

Grade 4/5 use the program Reading Journey to teach their partners rhyming words

Grade 4/5 will make & use flashcards to teach their partners the rhyming words that will be used on the web page

Grade 4/5 will help their partners finish their book version of I was Walking Down the Road (another activity already in progress).
