A group of Cycle 3 teachers
from the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, in partnership
with the Direction Générale de la Formation
des Jeunes (MEQ), have devised a set of preparatory questions
to assist teachers in the Anglophone sector in appropriating
the May-June 2005 MEQ Mathematics Cycle 3 Prototype exam.
The aim of these preparatory questions is to allow teachers
to experiment with situational problems and application
questions that will be similar in type and format to those
found in the MEQ’s 2005 prototype examination.
The preparatory questions consist
of two (2) situational problems, ten (10) situations involving
applications and two (2) situations involving Mathematical
communication. They take into account the relative importance
given to the themes covered in the mathematics program
and focus on the main concepts and processes studied in
what may be considered Cycle 3 Elementary.
The preparatory questions consist
of two separate parts, each involving a series of assessment
situations. The first part of the examination consists
of a situational problem, 5 application questions and 1
communication question under the general heading of “ON
TOUR ACROSS CANADA”. The second part of the examination
also consists of a situational problem, 5 application questions
and 1 communication question under the general heading
of “CHALLENGE ISLAND”.
Below you will find 3 folders
of documents related to these preparatory questions. Each
folder contains various files. Keep in mind that these
are large documents and will take considerable time to
download.
Unless you have Windows XP on
your computer, you will need a program such as WinZip to "unzip" the
files and Acrobat
Reader to read the documents.
