Arundel Nature Centre can accomodate guests in 70 cots and 8 beds.

 

The farmhouse includes a cosy living room with a functional fireplace, kitchen with sink and refrigerator, and a small washroom including a bath. (Picture)

This building has separate areas for males and females. Includes showers, sinks and toilets. The structure is situated between the two dormitory areas and is easily accessible. (Picture)

The Main Building is a converted barn. The dining hall will seat 60 to 70 people, and there is a full commercial kitchen, a barbecue, a covered outdoor work or eating area for up to 48 people. (Picture)

 

 

The Katimavik Log Cabin contains one large room for workshops and recreation.

The Sugar Shack houses a complete maple syrup operation that uses a modern method of line hook-ups with the trees in the sugar bush. A wood-fuelled old fashioned type evaporator provides a tradional hands-on experience of maple syrup production.

This small solar greenhouse is used to start spring seedling for our on-site cooperative organic teaching garden.

Other Facilities

  • Library in the Woods - The Library in the Woods is a research facility in the forest funded by the Organix Foundation. It provides picnic tables to seat a class, classified research books, lecterns, materials cupboard and a display board.

  • The Tree Farm - There is a plantation of evergreens that have been planted over a forty year period. Since the trees were planted every spring, they can be viewed at different stages of growth. Further to the evergreen farm, there is a functioning maple syrup operation and a large natural forest.

  • Nature Trails - Contained with the Arundel Natural Science Center are several marked nature trails. Further to the nature trails are a number of hiking and cross-country ski trails. These trails are connected to other such trails in the Arundel area.
  • Playing Fields - There is a large playing field area next to the main building suitable for games, physical education or sports activities, a volleyball court behind the farm house.
