WE LIVE… WE LAUGH… WE LEARN …

Ø       by loving, caring, sharing and respecting.

Ø       by working together as a team, learning from each other, being involved, belonging, contributing, respecting one another.

Ø       by exploring, discovering, investigating, analyzing, inferring and feeling successful and motivated.

Ø       And finally by valuing respect and personal responsibility.

The staff, parents and children feel honoured and proud of being a part of this new family called Pinewood Elementary.

PINEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S RULES OF LIFE

The Pinewood Elementary School community believes that by demonstrating respect and responsibility, we can create a safe, caring and collaborative environment that promotes life-long learning, and celebrates the uniqueness of all individuals. We believe that all students have the right to learn. No student has the right to choose behaviour that infringes upon the rights of others.

The development of a sense of self-discipline in each of our students is an important aspect of our discipline policy.  Discipline is meaningful when it is self-imposed or self-controlled.

As educators we recognize the primary role of parents as the first and best teachers of their children. We also recognize the partnership that needs to exist between home and school if students are to benefit fully from their education. In order for any policy to be effective, it is necessary that the school have the parents’ support and co-operation in teaching our children to make the right choices.

The discipline policy of the school is based on the premise that personal freedom is accompanied by the responsibility to respect the freedom of others.  Common courtesy, good manners and mutual respect are encouraged.

The Pinewood Elementary community members have the following “Rights and Responsibilities”:

Ø       We have the right to be safe and the responsibility to permit others to feel safe.

Ø       We have the right to be respected and to be treated with dignity, and the                responsibility to treat others in a similar manner.
