Journées de la Persévérence / Hooked on School Days, Feb 13-17

This year’s edition of Hooked on School Days will take from place February 13 to 17, 2012.  This event focuses on reminding students, parents, employers, municipalities and all regional stakeholders of the importance of working together to meet the challenge of staying in school and achieving academic success. See below for more information, or visit

A Word of Encouragement

We are a close community and we always work together to help each other go further. This week, we take the time to let you know that your future is very important to us. We have your success at heart as we know that you can be successful in many ways.

You can choose to obtain your high school leaving diploma, your work oriented path diploma, go for a vocational ed. path, go to college or maybe go to university.  Whatever your choice will be, make sure you do it for you.

You all have dreams.  You want a car, a house, some clothes and so on.  All of these dreams can come true if you make the right choices to reach your goals. Yes, everyone will experience some difficulties and some obstacles, probably some failures too. The most important thing is to be able to stand up and try again.  Find the people who will help and support you in these challenging moments.  Remember, you are never alone.

Since a very young person needs encouragement every day, We are here today to tell you that it is possible. Good luck in your days at LRHS.

Santa 6

On Thursday, December 16, fifty-five staff and students braved nasty wet weather to run in LRHS's first "Santa 6," a six kilometer mini-marathon through the streets of Lachute. Spirits were high all through the run, especially when they stopped briefly at Laurentian Elementary to hand out candy canes. Well done everyone!

Attention Parents

Are you the parent of a teen aged 14 – 17?

Are you and your child’s other parent willing to participate in a research study?
If you answered “yes” to both of these questions, then the researchers in the Family Psychology Lab of the University of Ottawa need your help.
The purpose of the study is to better understand parent and teen relationships, their daily interactions, and the role these play in teenager’s adjustment.
For this study:
Parents will be asked to independently complete an on-line questionnaire about the daily hassles they encounter with their teenage child. Each parent will be offered a $5 electronic gift certificate.
To participate:
At your convenience go to this website to complete the questionnaire:
For more information, leave a message for Catherine Horvath at the Family Psychology Lab: 613-562-5800 extension 4462 or send an email to:
