Forecasting the Weather

Your Group's Task

  • Divide up the weather instruments so that each group member has a minimum of two to make or record.
  • Make sure that at least one of you is measuring or observing all the main elements that weather is composed of. (Don't forget clouds!)
  • Choose the specific measuring tool that each of you will use.
  • Decide where you will place this measuring tool. See Make Your Own Weather Instruments below.
  • Individually, decide how you will collect and record your data. Then, fill in this planning chart. In Acrobat Reader Keep it to hand  in to your teacher. Then, collect the materials that you need to make your specific instruments. If you are having difficulty, speak with your group members or your teacher.
  • Weather Instruments are to be made in class.
  • Compare the instruments that you used with the instruments a meterologist uses. Use a Venn diagram or a chart to accomplish this task.
