PRACTISE YOUR MATH FACTS
(ADDITIONS AND MULTIPLICATIONS with carrying and borrowing)
DAILY HOME READING: ENGLISH AND FRENCH
Your child is expected to read aloud to you or any other
reading member of the family, every day in both English
and French. Cuddle up with your child and ask him or her
a few questions about the story when you are done. Discuss
and share opinions about it and enjoy this time spent together. The
students can do the reading on their own, as they will be
accountable for their reading in both French and English
(Reading Log/Journal de bord).
DAILY JOURNAL WRITING (English):
Children are to write every day in their journal.
A minimum of 4 entries per week is expected. Journals will
be picked up every
Friday and returned on Monday.

Problem of the Week is a mathematical problem
to be solved together. If your child is independent and
wants to complete it on his or her own it is OK too, but
it is fun to do it together!
Your child will receive this folder once a week with a new
problem, which is to be completed for the following Wednesday. This
homework will give you the opportunity to have some great
fun while helping your child along. You are expected to
sit with your child (or Grandpa and Grandma, Uncles and
Aunts, big brother or big sister…) and try to solve the
problem together. Your child is to write the answer down
and submit it in the duo tang. These problems are both fun
and challenging to resolve. I invite you to encourage your
child to think critically and to become a "super solver".
Follow the steps as indicated and… ENJOY!
every second Thursday:
SPELLING WORDS & /OR HOMEWORK SHEETS:
A list of 10 to 20 words and / or homework sheets will be
given on Thursday. Children have to put these words in alphabetical
order and/or have to write a definition for each of those
words using the dictionary. Children will then write a sentence
for each vocabulary word or a paragraph using all the words,
to show me the understanding and correct use and spelling
of each of those words. Children have until the following
Thursday to complete the work and to study the words for
the spelling test. Exercise books / duo tangs will be picked
up on that day which is also the spelling test day.
information will be posted and handed when this will be
introduced (monthly projects related to the reading that
has been done).
Wizard’s focus is on math and science, giving your child
the opportunity to "show & tell" with a twist.
Your child is to become the teacher (which the children
really enjoy) and prepare a math or science experiment to
demonstrate, show and have the rest of the class do. They
are very proud of what they achieve and of how their peers
react to their experiments. This time it is up to your child
to wear the teacher’s hat. The day your child will be selected
you will receive a note which will give him/her a whole
week to practice and prepare the experiment as well as a
hand out on the experiment of his or her choice.
might occasionally happen that your child will bring some
work to be finished at home, work that was not completed on
time in class (usually math). Work has to be completed and
returned to school the next day.
