Daycare

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Kids ‘R’ Us, the St.Paul school daycare!

Once again, we are beginning a new school year. Our goal is to maintain a quality child daycare. Many activities will be offered after our study period: arts and crafts, computer, intellectual games, cosom hockey and physical activities.

If, at anytime throughout the year, you need information or you wish to express your comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.

St.Paul School: Daycare Program

Day care, for many children, is a substitute family. Therefore, it is important to create an environment where every child feels relaxed, secure and loved. This is the raison why Day Care is directly involved in the development of each child under its care and is run based on the model of the caring family.
Our common objectives are to provide a healthy social environment.

1. Children should feel happy about themselves and each other.
2. Children should feel secure and confident with their educators.
3. Children should respect the difference and similarities of their fellow friends.
4. Children should be stimulated to develop the ability to think for themselves and to achieve their goals.

Each group of children of different ages has different needs.

Pre-K and Kindergarten: The first goal is to establish relationships with others. Make use of their environment. Learn to follow the school rules. Become independent.

Grades 1 to 3: Learn to make choices and find solutions for their problems to be able to develop their own personality.

Grades 4 to 6; appreciate the pleasure to learn. To develop relationships and curiosity. To encourage cooperation.

For all :
- to respect each child with his/ her limits or capacities.
- games appeared to us the best way to achieve learning objectives.
- to provide them with a positive self-image.
- to encourage interaction with their environment

Conditions for learning:
- If children are interested
- If they understand ‘why’
- If the subject is concrete or if they can manipulate different objects.
- If the learning content, without being too difficult, represents a challenge.

How we can do it:
- create a relaxed atmosphere
- stimulate motivation and enthusiasm
- encourage children to meet challenges at their level
- encourage socialization and cooperation
- develop positive and effective attitudes
- help children to get independence and autonomy

Social organization:
A specific space must be organized for children. If it is possible, a specific space for the younger and another one for the older.
A space organized for different workshops or activities: play area, work area and craft area…
A daily routine is also very important. Different activities offer to each child to find their own force.
