Educational Project
Our school success is defined with our educational project always as its
base:
- To ensure that our all students are literate by the end of Cycle 1 and
to provide opportunities to all our students to increase English proficiency
in reading and writing;
- To create a safe and caring school environment;
- To actively involve the students in their own learning

Busing
We have bus
supervisors to make sure your children arrive and leave
school on time and safely. Morning bus and yard
supervision starts at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 9:15 a.m.
Afternoon bus and yard supervision starts at 15:30 and
ends at 16:30 hours. If you drive your children to
school, please make sure you do not do so before 8:15
a.m. If you pick your children up after school, please
make every effort to do so before 16:30 hours.
Your child
will be put on the bus assigned to transport her / him
after school unless we receive a signed note from you or
a call (759-1600) indicating that your child will be
picked up by you.
Please
remember that bus drivers are not authorized to drive
your child to a friend's or relative's house. They will
drop your children off only at authorized stops. Please
note that it is not possible for the school to arrange
bus changes for your son / daughter.
Parents who
pick up or drop off their children should do so at the
front end of the school.
After
school, parents should wait at the gate until the
supervisor guides their children to them.
Remember that
disruptive behaviour on the buses is not only unfair to
other students but can be extremely dangerous. Bus
drivers cannot be distracted from their duty for a
second, otherwise an accident may result. Bus privileges
for repeated unacceptable behaviour may be withdrawn.
Students
travelling on buses serviced by another school board
must adhere to all regulations set forth in their
respective policies. A copy of these rules will be sent
out early in the school year.
Take note that
all parents can access the Transportation Department at
Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board (450) 621-5600 from
6:30 to 17:00 hours.
Any items left on the bus by a
child may be retrieved the next day from the bus driver.
Dress Code
There is no uniform at Joliette Elementary School.
However, clarification about what is and isn’t
permissible is absolutely essential for both parents and
students. The following is a guide and, when adhered to,
reduces any awkwardness, confusion or embarrassment for
all parties concerned.
Unfortunately, certain fashions as well as advertising
practices require that we must all pay more attention to
what is and what isn’t appropriate for school. Both
staff and parents have reached an agreement that forms
the basis for the dress code at Joliette Elementary
school.
Neat and appropriate attire for the classroom, physical
education classes and outdoor play provides the
framework for loose and comfortable clothing.
Please take note of the following dress /accessories
that are not permitted:
Caps (inside school), make-up, high heel shoes, tattoos
and body piercing, spaghetti strap tank tops, belly
shirts, hair dyed unnatural colors.
Shorts and
skirts must reach mid thigh and tops must cover the
midriff. Students who come to school inappropriately
dressed will be asked to change. Appropriate clothing
will be supplied.
For physical
education class, student need to wear a pair of shorts,
a T-shirt and a pair of running shoes that are not worn
outside. Both "platform" running shoes and jewelry are
not to be worn during the gym class.
All students
should dress appropriately for the weather. In the
winter they must have snow pants, winter coats, gloves
or mitts and winter boots.
In order to
keep the gym, corridor and classroom floors clean and
dry, students are required to have a second pair of
shoes for inside the building. |
