Accelerated Learning Program: LEARNING IN THE FAST LANE at Mother Teresa Junior High School, SWLSB.
As a parent, one of the most important things you can do is make the right educational choices for your children. It is necessary to ensure your children are able to go to a good high school with a qualified and motivated staff that will see to all the needs your children have while in school. You are going to want your child to be in a high school where the professionals have a pleasant and helpful attitude. Does the high school have an excellent sports program? How are the non-sport activities for children that are not good in sports? A school that has spirit and offers a lot to do is going to be a good high school for your child to attend.MTJHS offers each one of those things. Our students have said so themselves... Kayla Marie claims that, “My parents were scared that I would not be able to handle the challenges and expectations that come with an Accelerated program- but I was confident. When I found out I was accepted into the program, I was ecstatic. To this day, I am so very proud to be a part of this amazing experience.” Angel Rose said, “When it was time to choose which high school I wanted to attend, my parents wanted me to go to a private school. I have always been a motivated learner and a real go getter. I knew that I could succeed academically but I still wanted a solid social life. So, we searched for schools and found out that Mother Teresa Junior High School had this new program called the Accelerated Learning program. This program had the same learning styles as private schools so and I felt I would be more comfortable going to a public school. I knew the program would be the perfect learning environment for me and I have definitely not been proven wrong.”
The program creates a unique and stimulating learning environment where students are exposed to authentic educational experiences. A collaborative teaching team approach provides an interdisciplinary academic program that fosters a world perspective and inspires students to take responsibility for their learning. The aim is to provide students who are not sufficiently challenged with the regular academic program with an enriched program to meet those needs and abilities. The learning format enables teachers to enrich the required MELS curriculum and involve students in special projects such as space science, law initiatives, music/arts media enriched classes and much more.

When we walk the halls of MTJHS,
We look like every other kid,

They were right when they say this program is challenging,
But surround yourself with great people in it and it doesn’t seem as tough.
Teachers are caring and understanding.
The homework is challenging but it’s pretty stable.
Homework is a clock…time is the key.
Our homework is complete, time to call…text…and kick back and relax
