AAA GALA 2009 NEWS Laval Liberty High School wishes to congratulate the following student-athletes for their recent accomplishment and recognition by the Federation Quebecoise de Sport Etudiant’s Juvenile AAA Football League. Each student-athlete received the following award at the annual awards night held on January 23rd, 2010. Theodore Bekelis was honoured with the Lineman of the Year Award. He racked up 49 solo tackles, 12 assisted tackles and 11 tackles for losses during the past season. He also tallied 5 quarterback sacks and recovered 3 fumbles. Kyeon Nicely (Receiver) and Chris Fields (Defensive Back) were named to the all-star team, while Paul Rozakis was honoured for his overall high academic achievement. Juvenile AAA Offensive Player of the Week October 19th - 25th, 2009: Theo Bekelis Due to the numerous injuries suffered by the team's running backs, Theo decided to play on the offense to help out the Panthers. He had 25 rushes and gained 302 yards. He scored 3 touchdowns in a 26-13 victory over the Sphinx of ecole secondaire Jacques-Rousseau. Theo also played his usual position on defense and had an exceptional game. Juvenile AAA Defensive Player of the Week September 28th - October 4th, 2009: Theo Bekelis Theo was true to his usual competitive spirit in a 32-1 Panthers victory over the Academie Les Estacades. Theo had 10 tackles on his own, 4 assisted tackles and one quarterback sack. He also recovered 2 fumbles and returned one for 12 yards. Juvenile AAA Offensive Player of the Week August 31st - September 6th, 2009: Ryan Forrest Running Back Ryan Forrest had an excellent game in his debut for the Panthers. He gained over 100 yards on 16 rushes and scored a touchdown in the Panthers 49-35 victory. Juvenile AAA Defensive Player of the Week August 31st - September 6th, 2009: Theo Bekelis Linebacker Theo Bekelis had another awesome game for the Panthers in the 2009 season opener. Theo had 11 tackles on defense, 2 of which for resulted in lost yardage. He also got his first quarterback sack of the season which resulted in a 12-yard loss. Juvenile AAA Special Teams Player of the Week August 31st - September 6th, 2009: Christopher Fields Defensive Back Chris Fields was electrifying on special teams in his debut as a Panther. Chris returned two punts for 30 yards and a kickoff for 81 yards and a touchdown. Chris was instrumental in leading the Panthers to victory.
