SWLSB Appoints Florence Delorme as new Director General

Rosemère, July 8, 2026 – The Council of Commissioners of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Florence Delorme as Director General, effective July 9th, 2026, following a unanimous decision at this evening’s Special Council meeting.

The appointment follows a rigorous and transparent recruitment process conducted in accordance with the school board’s Policy on the Recruitment and Hiring of a Director General and an Assistant Director General.

“Today’s decision marks more than the appointment of a Director General. It marks the beginning of a new chapter for our school board,” said Chairperson James Di Sano.

“By bringing this motion forward personally, I wished to demonstrate Council’s full confidence in Ms. Delorme and our collective commitment to moving forward together. The unanimous vote sends a strong message to our employees, students, families, and community partners that we are united behind our new Director General and focused on the future. Council’s decision reflects its confidence in a leader who combines extensive experience, a deep understanding of the organization, and a collaborative approach to leadership.”

A long-standing member of the SWLSB community, Ms. Delorme brings more than 25 years of experience in education and 19 years in leadership roles within our organization. Her career has included positions as a teacher, vice-principal, principal, and, for the past nine years, Director of School Affairs and School Organization.

Throughout her career, Ms. Delorme has worked closely with students, families, school administrators, and departments across the school board. She has developed a deep understanding of the strengths and challenges of English public education in Québec and has played a key role in mentoring new school administrators and supporting leadership teams.

Known for her collaborative leadership style, Ms. Delorme believes in empowering others, building strong relationships, and creating respectful working environments where students and employees can thrive. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to ensuring that student success, employee well-being, and continuous improvement remain at the heart of decision making.

“Our respective roles are distinct, but our purpose is shared,” added Di Sano. “The Council of Commissioners establishes the vision and governance of the school board, while the Director General leads the administration and operations of the organization. Together, through mutual respect, trust, and collaboration, we will continue building a school board that places students at the centre of every decision.”

Effective July 9, Ms. Delorme will assume the role of Director General, leading the organization through the opportunities and challenges ahead while advancing the school board’s Commitment to Success Plan and supporting students, employees, families, and communities across Laval, Lanaudière, and the Laurentides.

With a workforce of more than 2,000 employees, the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board is the third-largest English school board in Québec. Its territory comprises the administrative regions of Laval, Laurentides, and Lanaudière. The school board provides preschool, elementary, secondary, and adult education and vocational training services to over 14,000 students in 36 schools and 4 centres. It also offers business training services.
