International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust

Today, on International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, we solemnly honor the memory of the six million Jewish men, women, and children, as well as millions of other innocent victims, who perished during the Holocaust. We take this opportunity to reflect on one of the darkest chapters in human history and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that the lessons of the past guide us toward a future built on tolerance, inclusion, and respect for all.

As educators and community leaders, we have a profound responsibility to combat antisemitism and all forms of hatred by fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated, and human dignity is upheld. Through education, we empower our students with the knowledge and understanding necessary to stand against prejudice and to champion the values of empathy and justice.

We encourage our students, staff, and community members to take time today to reflect, learn, and commit to being agents of positive change in the world.

Let us honor the victims by standing united against hatred and by continuing to build a society grounded in compassion and mutual respect.

James Di Sano, Chairperson, Council of Commissioners
