NATURE OF THE WORK
The Pedagogical Consultant is involved in working with the Early Intervention Team to provide proactive strategies in order to ensure students build strong foundational skills for learning. Your role in the team is to assess the current needs of SWLSB Kindergarten and Cycle 1 classrooms and subsequently provide solutions for teachers, and school teams suggest support measures for students displaying areas of difficulty, and provide suggestions and resources for family education. In addition, you will be required to:
• Ensure that support is available for those requiring assistance in understanding and teaching students with
special learning needs
• Work with other in-school professionals with respect to the SWLSB referral and assessment process;
• Work closely with school teams in the development of instructional activities, including those adapted and/or modified, for ongoing implementation in the classroom;
• Assess the current instructional practices in Kindergarten and Cycle 1 Elementary with a particular
focus on foundational literacy and numeracy;
• Create and provide school teams with a framework for identifying and instructing students who may be at risk for learning foundational literacy and numeracy skills;
• Provide teachers with knowledge of best instructional, foundational literacy and numeracy practices by means of in-class modelling and coaching;
• Provide schools with information/training sessions for parents.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty, notably education;
• A mastery of the English language and the ability to function effectively in French;
• A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience;
• A permanent teaching diploma (brevet d’enseignement) issued by the Ministère de l’Éducation
• Experience working with preschool age children and /or studies in early childhood education. (Considered an asset)
