Dear SWLSB Families,
As mentioned in yesterday’s communication, all our staff (teachers, support staff, professionals and maintenance staff) will participate in a national common front strike on Monday, November 6 from midnight to 10:30 a.m. As a public educational organization, it remains our foremost responsibility to preserve and optimize educational services to our students. While we navigate these challenging circumstances, we are committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring a continued focus on the pedagogical needs of our students.
Consequently, here is the information you need to know about this strike day.
Strike Details and School/Centre Schedules
During the strike, we expect that there will be picket lines in front of our schools, our adult and vocational training centres, and our administrative centre. As such, classes will be suspended until the end of the strike (10:30 a.m.).
- Schools will reopen for students at 10:45 a.m. You can drop off your children between 10:45 and 11:15 a.m.
- The regular school schedule will resume at 11:15 a.m. Attendance will be taken, but students will not be penalized for not being at school that day. No new content or evaluations will take place.
- Should your child be absent, please advise the school as per the usual procedure.
- AEVT centres will reopen for students at 10:45 a.m. The centres’ regular schedule will resume at 11:15 a.m.
Please do not drop off your children before 10:45 a.m. to ensure that the school staff is in place for the safe arrival of all students. Schools will send you the specific details about where to drop off your children and any other information pertaining to your school.
Transportation and Daycare Services
There will be no school busses and no daycare services on the morning of November 6. Afternoon buses and daycare services will, however, resume as per their regular schedules.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation during this time. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority, and we thank you for your understanding.
